Is there any way to keep the dimension in place at the intersection point when fillet the corner, like "Keep constrained corners" in Solidworks?

Hi @Pornthep-DTA

besides the fact that I never would fillet within a sketch (always use 3D fillet) Solid Edge will automatically snap onto that virtual corner when using PMI dims in 3D.

Wolfgang

Hi, Wolfgang

Thanks for your suggestion.
Actually, I want to fillet a path curve for the sweep command, which cannot be done in 3D. Man Sad

Hi @Pornthep-DTA

OK, as You said there are situations where it is necessary to fillet within one sketch.

So then I would suggest to dim it to the intersection point either with using the I-button on keyboard (Intersection) or with hovering over both elements.

Problem here would be, that such dimension are not driving dimensions, so You cann't modify Your lines.

My advise or my method in such cases is, to draw a small circle, connect it to both lines (implicit intersection) and use this one for dimensioning.

It's not perfect but it works!

(view in My Videos)

PS.: change the circle to construction would be a good advise too!

If I need a fillet in sketch (wich I try to avoid), I draw the extention lines and change them to "construction lines"

In the sketch you can place a point and constrain it onto each line.

Then you can dimension to the point.
Sketch profiles in the modelling environments do not allow dimensioning to an intersection.

@beachcomber
I do just like what you have told, lay points on the intersections and then dimension to the points.
But it took a few more steps. and for many corners profile, it's not just "few steps".

@Pornthep-DTA  This does not work so well if creating sketches for Ordered features, but if using them for Synch features it works great...

The Fillet command bar has an option to not trim the lines when it adds the fillet (Fillet - No Trim).  This keeps the dimensions to the sharp edge.  If using the sketch to create Synch features you will still get the correct region.

It would be awesome if SE would change the command to actually split the lines where the fillet connects and change the lines to the sharp edge to construction...  You ought to create a Change Request by logging an IR for that.

I do this exact thing quite often, mainly when I need a certain radius and a dim. to the tangent face of it, or often when reverse engineering a part with multiple radi.
