I can only apply one color to the whole part, buy my cowork can apply as many colors as she like to the different faces of a part. where is this setting? i have tried to unlink material on the part but it only works from the asm down to the part. it will not apply multi colors to the different faces. how do i change this?

Select "Face" in the part painter ribbon bar.

One way is to select different materials to a single Part, is to attach random colours to the Faces in the CAD, and then you can apply the Materials in Keyshot.
