License Utility refuses to open

N/A

I have just downloaded SE ST4. I am told that now I have to open the license utility to finish installation. When I try to open the license utility, it opens a pop-up message that says "The Solid Edge license file is currently in use. Please exit your Solid Edge session then restart the License Wizard." The only this I have open tied to SE is the forum here trying to solve my problem. How do I get the license utility to work?

Make sure that the licensefile you received has the extension .dat (
full name selicense.dat ) if not rename it to selicence.dat and copy it
into
c:\program files\Solid Edge ST4\Program overwriting the existing one.
This will make it work.

Hi there,

You'll need to save out the license file from the email, to a known place on your computer first, then you can rename that file, by locating it in windows explorer, follow the steps Jan points out.

When renaming the license file in Windows Explorer make sure that you
have “Hide extensions for known file types” turned off. If not renaming
the file will incorrectly name it to “SELicense.dat.txt” and you’ll
never know it because the .txt extension will be hidden.
