Hi,

Nothing at my current company,

we had a Novell email systems that had a IM system built in at my old employer, that seemed to work really well. Im surprised outlook hasnt got this functionality built in yet!

Microsoft has it, it is just separate from Outlook.  I believe it is now Skype for Business, was Lync, before that Office Messenger.

Here guys use WhatsApp messenger (w coleagues contacts inside a group, on phone and web based app on PCs). We use for message, voice, calls, photo and some doc sharing (this last one depending on platform).  And these days (after 24h app blocking by brazilian government decision), we found out Telegram app is slightly more interesting (cloud-based content, memory optimization, private and self-destructing conversations, and some more cool features I don't remember now). Besides not using for IM, they keep a Skype channel here just for calls from/to some clients and salesmen from other country regions.

We use Lotus Notes for our email (don't even get me started on that). Built into Lotus Notes (if you are forced at gun point to use it) is a messaging tool called Sametime. It actually works pretty well and allows you to transfer files and capture screenshots (and of course use emojis. We are spread out over a large area between multiple buildings so messaging is highly useful to us.

Lync but most people here do not use electronic communications unless they are trying to CYA.

We are still running office 14 and will likely do so for another year or two as we do a 4 year computer upgrade cycle and do not do OS updates outside of new computers.
