Odd Angle Dim text locations

Anyone care to comment on this oddity? The angle reading seems to place itself arbitrarily. It's consistent on each view but inconsistent between views. Why? Order of picking doesn't seem to matter. Order of constructing the lines in DIV doesn't matter. Fortunately smart dim with "a" seems to be consistent.

Hi @bshand

real good issue.

Due to that I normally use the Smart Dim I have not seen this result here for me.

I suppose both views show exactly the same geometry?

Put your dimension on "Horizontal/Vertical" instead of "By 2 points" and behavior is gone.

This has been in SE as long as i worked with it. So i guess atleast 12 years now Smiley Embarassed

PS: I work only with Horizontal/Vertical because it's more stable and breaks less times (my opinion), to swap to 2points just hold SHIFT and you have the same result.

They are not the same part in the views. Probably saved from one or the other but not sure why that would matter since the dimension is to DIV entities.

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately it made no difference.

@Sander-GPI, If you're really curious I'm attaching a dft file. I was going to include the associated models but the problem can be seen without them and it makes it simpler for anyone to just deal with a single file.

Hi @bshand

and

Hi @Sander-GPI

IMHO Solid Edge doeas an excellent and correct job.

If You analyze Your dimensions a little bit further and more in detail YOu will see, that the situations are not equal for each of them.

They differ in the second and third decimal place of the starting and ending angle, so that the center of these angles show up- and downwards.

And according to the drafting standard the reading orientation must be exactly as it is done by Solid Edge

So IMHO the results shown in the drfat file are as they should be!

@hawcad, What standard are you referring to? And if what you say is true then smart dimension with "a" is incorrect.

Hi @bshand

I am used to have the DIN drafting standards, and the give exactly this rules for text reading positions.

Otherwise the text would be "head over" and this area.

And now, Smart Dimension and normal Angular dimensions bring the same results, no difference in Youor example.
