Opening and Editing Catia Drawing File

Hi,

I have a customer that pay for the Catia V4 and V5 tranlator in Solid Edge.

Usually they receive Catia part file and open it for blanking purposes.

But now they have receive a Catia drawing file which he said that that company can oly give catia drawing.

He can not open due to no catia drawing translator inside solid edge.

But he need to open and some markup ad editing for the drawing he receive.

Any ideas? Any other adds On that can solve this?

Re: Opening and Editing Catia Drawing File

The only way I know is for the company to provide dwg/dxf files from their Catia drawings.

You can then translate those into Solid Edge.

@Arisy What do you mean they "paid for" them? They're built into classic at least.

Ditto what @beachcomber said. Note that the only non-SE 2D file types available in the open dialog are dwg/dxf.

Re: Opening and Editing Catia Drawing File

Drawing files are all pretty much proprietary to the systems of origin- with the exception of the dwg/dfx.

I am going to assume that the customer wants to view the catia drawing file. In that case, I think you might be stuck with eDrawings and then only when catia exports/publishes the eDrawing file. You might as well ask for a pdf of the drawing. At least you can purchase pdf to vector converters for that.

If you are after geometry...well.. you aren't going to get that from the catia drawing file.
