Peer Variable Question

Legend

Hi Edgers,

I wonder if someone of you knows the answer ;-)

I am trying to understand how to change the formula when I am pasting the link to another part dimension.

The variable V453 is linked to a different part which it has a width 400mm.

What I want to achieve is a formula like - (@ link to another part dim) - 3mm - so, in conclusion, I will get 397mm.

Would you please tell me how to write that formula?

thanks,

Arek

Hi Arek:

It seems you cannot directly edit CopyLink-PasteLink formula.

Instead ceate a new var and PasteLink the width from another part into the var.

Then use the var in the (final dimensions) - 3

The following image shows the steps:

Hope you find this useful.

Thanks for the praise Arek.

That was a low hanging fruit.

In fact, it is a recommended practice to always inter-link to local variables and then use those variables to drive dimensions. This way they can be kept separate and formulas can be applied before using the values.
