Problem with dimensioning a hole

When adding a dimension to a hole using the 'Smart Dimension' I am unable to pick the 'Select Diameter' box (shown on attached screen capture) to place down the dimension correctly showing the hole diameter - dimension will only show radius, please help

Re: Problem with dimensioning a hole

Select the circle and then the diameter box will be active.

Re: Problem with dimensioning a hole

I select hole but diameter box remains inactive - I can only see radius box active

Re: Problem with dimensioning a hole

Did you make the hole with hole command or cut using a circle?

Re: Problem with dimensioning a hole

Hole was created using the hole command

Re: Problem with dimensioning a hole

Could it be an ellipse because the face is not normal to the view plane?

Re: Problem with dimensioning a hole

Hole shown is on an angled flange, however I have previously been able to add 'Hole Dimension' in this case

Re: Problem with dimensioning a hole

That means the it is not a circle, try to make a view perpendicular on the hole (use auxiliary view) an then add the dimenssion.

Re: Problem with dimensioning a hole

Thank you I will try that method - I have other holes in angled plane which I have successfully added the hole diameter to ...

Re: Problem with dimensioning a hole

Hi there @agoodwin,

I recall this was a regression, back in an ST6 maintenance pack, where, if the face was curved, the resulting hole [& circular cutout] displayed in draft, would not function as a diameter when using smart dimension.....was fixed in an MP.

What version of SE & also the MP, are you on?
