Problems making the correct dimension (from hole to edge of plate)

Hi,

I have problems dimensioning the distance from the hole to the edge.

I would like to know how much the hole has been "offset" from the edge.

Hi,

I'd suggest using Distance Between instead of Smart Dimension along with the steering wheel.

If the hole is already placed, use a coordinate system with one axis aligned to the inclined edge and dimension the hole center with the axis.

Cant get that to work Smiley Sad

Re: Problems making the correct dimension (from hole to edge of plate)

Hi,

okay, first of all, I think that there is a big change between ST6 what Tushar is showing and ST8 what we use.

The standard behaviour of Solid Edge using distance dimension between 2 points doesn't work proper when using edges instead of 2D sketch lines.

At least here with ST8

So the only solution I can give is, that You use the method "dimensions axis" instead (what is seen in Your video already) but You have to define the dimension axis using the small icon on the left of the toolbar, selecting You reference axis

Then it work as it should, but I think the 2 ponits method must be adapted to be in the same way as in 2D sketches.

Here is the video:
