I downloaded St5 student version onto my laptop and opened it, but I can't design anything at all. It's showing me a 'read-only' symbol that, when clicked, says that the document is "available," but is "write-locked." How do I make this so that I can actually CAD parts on here? thanks

Hi there,
I am only guessing here, but did you install the license file correctly?
If not, try running the "License Utility" and browse to the file from the email you received after sign up on the Siemens web page.

So you select "New" and pick a template or select a template on the background in the "Create" section and the new file is read-only?
