Revision Manager Problem

A user is getting the error indicated in the following image when he tries to invoke revision manager.  I logged on to his laptop and did not get the error, and he logged on to mine, and also did not get the error.  He then went back to his laptop and the error reappeared.

We're running 107.00.10.02 x64

Any advice or guidance on this problem would be appreciated.

Maybe relax his UAC settings? Type "uac" in the start menu search box at the bottom.

Re: Revision Manager Problem

Sounds like you have a policy that has somehow inadvertently gotten set for the user.  Try the following steps to remove:

Boot the computer into Safe mode.

Using regedit delete the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\safer\codeidentifiers\0\Paths\

Reboot the workstation.

Re: Revision Manager Problem

The path ended at codeidentifiers.  I deleted that and he tried again, but the same error occurred.

Re: Revision Manager Problem

The UAC is a slider bar, and it's at the bottom, or minimum.

Re: Revision Manager Problem

Did you delete the entire registry key that UK_Dave indicated? It sounded like maybe you just deleted the end.

Re: Revision Manager Problem

You can go into the Local Group Policy Editor and check if anything has been set in the following setting:

Local Computer Policy -> User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Don't Run specified Windows applications

You can also poke around the Group Policy and see if you can locate another entry somewhere that is preventing this from running.

Or you can brute force remove the policies by deleting the following registry entries (back up the entries before deleting):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Group Policy

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies

Reboot

Re: Revision Manager Problem

The user took the laptop to our IT department to have SE reinstalled.  It now works as expected.  Thanks for all of the suggestions.
