Ring gear on ST8

Hello,

I'm a mechanical engineering student from France. In order to work on a testbench, I have to machine an internal gear (ring gear). Since I can't find appropriate models on CAD parts websites, I need to create it myself using Solid Edge ST8.
Is it possible to create the part using the gear designer ?

Do you have advice on how to create a ring gear ?

Thanks for any answer.

Best regards from France,

Levin

In schematic form: you use the engineering reference in a saved assembly, pick spur gear designer, in options select internal gearing, set the desired parameters, hit calculate and if successful it should make the "create" button active, hit create and it will ask to create two parts for which you can provide name and path, then it will generate them.

Actually I can't set all the parameters I want. For example, I can set the diameter and the module but I can't set the number of tooth. Any help for this problem ?

Tank you in advance.

Sorry, I'm not expert in this aspect of the software. Maybe someone who is will respond?

@Levin are you looking in the right place. You should be setting the type chain and the number of teeth, and then the software will calculate the diameter.

Re: Ring gear on ST8

In the options select "Find center distance" radio button.

This will changge the inputs to allow teeth.
