I am a teacher and new to solid edge.
I have downloaded and installed the teacher version found there:
I'm a familiar user of SW and I have found easy and pleasant to design my first assembly on solid edge.
The problem came when I wanted to set material for a part. The program crash when I select a material in the wizard.
I've tried it many time with different material or from the generative design menu.
If needed, I can provide the crashlog.txt file generated by the program.
I have also some questions about education licence and version:
- is it possible to get a webkey account and get access to Maintenance Pack?
- is it possible to download the standard parts library from the gtac server?
Thanks for your help

@profsinlla Do you happen to have Microsoft Office installed? I believe that Excel is required for such things as the Material Table.
As to Maintenance Packs, those are reserved for customers on paid Maintenance.
There are two educational license types. The free Student License (and Instructor) which you have downloaded and a formal University license which requires a contract and a maintenance change which thus has access to Maintenance Packs.
As to Standard Parts, I'm not sure what is available for the free Student version.
'Standard parts administrator and basic library' is included in the free SE Student & Teacher Edition,
but to access the full 'Machinery library (standard parts extension)' you need the SE University Edition.
SE University Edition is normally bought via a reseller (VAR) or directly from Siemens.
With Excell installed material and simulation work fine now. Thank you for the fix.
I've installed the trial version, I hope it will work after expiration. If not, is there any way to configure another speadsheet program?
I thought that teacher licence was full. I'm testing SE to use it in high school courses for engineering and product design. An access to a standard parts library would be necessary for this use.
Is it possible for a high school to order university edition?
I would recommend you to contact your reseller and ask for an offer for the University Edition.
MS Office is a requirement. There is no way to configure an alternate spreadsheet application.
As @Ulf_Eriksson mentioned you do get the Standard Parts feature which does come with a small subset of parts in the library and you can also add your own, but the extended libraries are not included unless you get the University license, and he gave you info on inquiring about that.
