Hi Rick, I agree with your comment about Vista - but I've read good things about Windows 7 RC. I logged on as an Administrator and deleted the registry entry again. Still can't see any templates when doing a File New even when logged on as an administrator. While logged on as an Adminstrator I checked the settings for the privledges for the Templates folder, and for the parent to it - I had previously changed the permissions for the templates folder ticking all of them for Users, while the parent folder hasn't been modified. Do I need to change the persmissions on the parent folder rather than the templates folder? The attached MS Word document shows screenshots as I've gone along. Cheers, Rick
Rick, If you simply navigate to the "Solid Edge 2D Drafting ST\templates" folder, do you see any .dft files? Now go to the 'More' sub folder. Do you see any ..dft files there? Go back to the 'templates' folder. Right mouse click on the .dft file if there is one. Click on properties. On the General tab make sure that 'Read Only' and 'Hidden' are not checked. On the Status tab, make sure 'Available' is checked. Check your permissions on the Security tab. As a last resort. Uninstall the software. Clean up the registry as before. Delete what remains of the 'Solid Edge 2D Drafting ST' folder. Reinstall the software. Do not make any changes. Run the software as the user you installed it with and see if you see the files. Regards, Rick B.
Hi Rick, I'm not having much luck fixing this issue - I still can't see the templates when doing a File New despite uninstalling the software, cleaning-up the registry, deleting the remainder of the Solid Edge 2D Drafting ST folder, and reinstalling the software. All done while logged-on as my normal account but promoted to administrator rights. I also disabled Carbonite (on-line back-up software) before doing above and it didn't seem to make any difference. The attached .doc shows what I mean - no templates are showing-up from File New. I also checked the Properties (and Security) on the templates folder and set all them as instructed earlier, Any other suggestions? Thanks, Rick
Hi Rick, I just tried what Gerry suggested in his post for 'Re: Can't open new file' by deleting the virtualised folder for C:\users\ name>\App Data\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\SolidEdge 2D Drafting ST and I can now do a File New and the appropriate templates show up. Thank you Gerry! By the way, I had both 2D Drafting V20 and 2D Drafting ST folders there before manually deleting them. Cheers, Rick
