ST7 - Varying Ribbon Button Sizes

I see that ribbon is using varying button sizes under one setting, which makes that visually really stupid (for lack of better word) and I do not like it.

Under the 'Increase buttons on Command Ribbon by 2x' on they get really crazy large.

I hope it is a bug.

Look at custom buttons size difference placed in from the pull down buttons.

Is there the explanation?

Re: ST7 - Varying Ribbon Button Sizes

Please look at my setting from ST6.

I do not see any benefit of mixed button sizes,

Re: ST7 - Varying Ribbon Button Sizes

The button size difference is a Microsoft thing, with the bigger buttons being more commonly used. You see the same sort of thing in Word or Excel, since the ribbon was introduced. Also, if you can think of the wide range of interfaces the software has to install on (high resolution to small resolution), you might excuse the fact that some look extreme on your particular set up.

Also, the sizes and arrangements are customizable.

Matt,

Please show me a quick and stable way to change these down to standard size.

Re: ST7 - Varying Ribbon Button Sizes

  1. On the toolbars right-click -> Customize the Ribbon…
  2. In the Customize dialog, in the right-hand pane right-click -> Button Options…
  3. In the Button Options dialog select Size -> Use only small buttons.
  4. Select OK.
  5. Select Close.
  6. Save your changes to a new Theme.
