STEP & surfaces

[ Edited ]

Hello,

Sometimes we get a STEP file from a client.

We want to add it as a part into our library for future use, but when we open it in Solid Edge, we get all surfaces (purple, shell), and no solid part. How can we transform a STEP file into a part with mass, no shell only?

Thx, Johan

Hi,

It depends on many things. It should be "closed" geometry... You can use sew command...

Could you post an example?

Even though I can't understand the language that presentation demonstrated a lot of great tools. Thank you for sharing.

Re: STEP & surfaces

If you are getting just surfaces, then you probably have gaps and the translator can not fill the gaps. There are a lot of tools to interogate and fix the geometry.

If you can, check to see if you can get a parasolid instead of STEP file. That would provide you with a direct read instead of a translation.
