For number of the SE versions, saving SE drafts as translated to dwg format, manually or with the VB code, does not generate automatically file thumbnails in W7 and W10 for the long time.
I know - it is not the most important thing for 3D, but my SolidWorks Premium is doing it right way for the long time.
Play with the translation INI file settings, reading the translation log file etc. did not help at all.
Basically at the print time of the master drafts, my code generates slave dwg, pdf and print job files for the single file or for the selected batch based on the parent child definition of multilevel assemblies or the whole project.
Opening of the windows explorer does not create the Solid Edge draft slave dwg file thumbnail too.
I wonder if there is somewhere some registry setting or some other trick to get the thumbnails preview ready.
Thanks. Looking forward for the solution.
I always thought the thumbnails are defined by any appliaction associated to that type of file.
So if You have installed any dwg viewer I suppose YOu also will get the thumbnails.
But maybe there is a specialist here, who can answer that better.
I could only verify this:
This page from the Autodesk knowledge base suggests possible reasons for the no-show of DWG preview from SE.
My guesses are the ones in blue rectangles:
Hello Wolfgang and Tushar,
Thank you very much for your prompt help.
I will go thru your input and will get back with the results. I am rushing to family birthday celebration now
I have a problem with previews of SE files in the SE open file dialog or File Explorer. I don't get previews on my workstation but the same files on another workstation do show up in the preview pane.
Anyone know where the settings to correct that are?
p.s. not my intention to hijack this thread. Thought this question is along the same lines.
Never mind. Found the setting in File Explorer options.
In my observation having Insight installed makes a difference.
Bruce, what are those settings in Windows Explorer options.
I would like to try.
