Sheet Metal Box Problem

Here's one that I didn't understand. The flat pattern for the attached model fails unless Close Corner 10 and 11 are suppressed. Why?

Hi Bob,

Thanks for taking a peek at that. I can't repeat your results! Did you change the flat pattern settings?

For me (ST8) -- RMB on feature 1. Recompute. RMB on Flat node. Update. FP works fine. Maybe you just need to nudge it on ST7 also?

Nope, didnt work. Thanks Dan.

I actually redrew this box from scratch, twice. Same error with the flat because of the Close Corner features on the last two corners that you pick. If you don't have issues either, sounds like the MP is the culprit. I will find out later today.

Hello Guys,

I know exactly why. The circular cutout must be large enough to get outside the plastic zone. I filed an IR, that has already been promoted to a PR.

If you make the circular cutout larger, the flat will not fail.

There is no work around with a circular cutout.

I was given an email that this specific issues would be solved in ST8, but after answering some diveloper questions last friday, it sounds like that will not be solved.

Please file another IR to get more pressure on getting that fixed.

Welcome to my world. I have about 10 varius problems like this.

Hi,

I use ST7 MP6 and it "works" after recomputing or suppressing / unsuppressing. I don't know why?

Installing MP6 and recomputing allowed the part to flatten without issue. So, this was a bug in MP4!

This was not affected by the circular cutout, 12GAGE. Making the circular cutouts larger did not allow the flat pattern to compute.
