I can understand, I tried this too with SW, while I used it Smiley Happy But I'm sure SE has a better user experience. I missing a few minor feature from SW, like "Show hidden components". But SE has a way much better stability and predictability.
So go ahead, you will have fun!

you're right about stability no crashes yet. but SW has a better UI and quicker way of doing things.

See this blog page. Just under the free apps area are 4 tutorials to add macros to various UI places in Solid Edge:

Hi

I have added this macro, but I appear to have the same problem as Arek. When I click the macor button, the PathFinder flickers several times and then I get the message pop-up asking if I want to report the problem to Microsoft. I am using ST9 MP13 on Windows 7. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Sorry to hear that the macro is flickering the Pathfinder

I tested it originally in ST6 and yesterday again in ST10 before posting but found no problems.

This could be due to the assembly being very small - one of those from the training folder having no more than 10-12 components.

Are you checking the macro in a large assembly ?

Hi @arekkul

I will test the macro on a larger assembly, with components close to what you have mentioned.

Hi Tushar

The assembly I have tried has 565 components with 6 levels and 49 subassemblies.

Thanks.

Hi @585

I am able to verify the problem with an assembly of just 150 parts with 4 levels.

In my case the Pathfinder flickers for some time but it does not run into an error.

It does the job.

I will revisit the code again and check if its performance could be improved.

There's in fact nothing much that the code does beyond checking which components are hidden/shown and toggling their display state. I believe it has more to do with the display performance and the supporting hardware, especially the graphics card.

Thanks.

Hi Tushar

My system is a Dell Precision T3610 with Xeon 4 Core 3.7GHz. Graphics card is a Quadro K2000 with 2GB.

Many thanks for your assistance.
