Showing the dimensions of copied parts in parts lists.

Experimenter
Experimenter

We are setting up our Parts Lists to show part dimensions that are driven from part files.  All is working smoothly except in the case of parts generated as copies of original parts (i.e mirrored copy).  With copied parts, no dimensions show their variables tables thus preventing the creation of links that will drive dimensions of the affected parts in the parts list.  Is there a solution to this problem?  If possible, we want to avoid overiding cells in our parts lists and manually entering values.

Hi @dogpatch75

You can use my MainDImension macro therefore.

I think this can help to get it.

See post

https://community.plm.automation.siemens.com/t5/Solid-Edge-Forum/Listing-Dimensons-of-parts-in-part-...

but I will attach the macro again, so that You can use the current version of it.

And of course this is a free tool to use!

Take a look into the 2 XML files.

Within them You can define nearly anything You want to have

Explanantion is there in English too!

Hope it helps

regards
Wolfgang

Maybe if You have ST10 then tehre is the 32bit API missing.

See other post and install View&Markup too.

This will install 32bit again

We use mirrored parts a lot and what happens is the exposed variable in the original part becomes a custom text property in the mirrored part. Let's say it's called "length". So we delete the custom property length, then add a PMI dim and expose it as "length". Then it will show up in the parts list.
