Simplified Assembly

First off I think this is what I want to do but if someone has a better idea please chime in. I want to create simplified files because of proprietary geometry not large file sizes.

Is there a way to keep my “Save simplified assembly as .par” linked to my assembly?

I would like to be able to update this file if I ever have revisions to the original components. I also want to be able to use this simplified part for some dimensional drawings as well as sending to the customer. I would be nice to have the option of updating rather than saving the file all over again.

I like the idea of using simplified parts for this, the simplifed assembly option seems cumbersome.

I tried making a part copy of my assembly but it doesn't give me the option to use simplified or designed parts.

If this is the case, you only have to modify the subassembly so that the final assembly can be lighter.

It's my personal opinion ...
If you know the file name and path to save the simplified assembly ...
If you save the newly updated simplification with the same filename ...
I wonder if it has the effect of being updated again.

If you open a new document and import it using the "Part Copy" function
Link is available.

be advised that there is new functionality in ST10 that will aid in simplifing and hiding IP...

Several commands were updated to help with this.

Insert Part Copy – Adjust for non-manifold and remove interior voids option

Delete Face –select Interior Voids option

Union Bodies – Adjust for non-manifold option

The insert part copy might be a good place to look at...  as this would stay associative.
