I have a seldom used PC with ST8 installed. Or it used to be. It looks like someone may have deleted the SE folder from the programs folder. But it still appears in the programs and features list. I can't uninstall or repair the ST8 without getting errors. It's giving me: "Error 1721" if that means anything to anyone. Of course, I can't install ST9 because it thinks ST8 is installed and it says I need to uninstall it first.
So I'm stuck. Is there any SE Cleaner software?
Solved! Go to Solution.
On the Install media is a folder called "SPT tools "
in there is "SECleanupALL.exe"
I'm not having any joy with that utility. It runs in like one second, says it's done, but nothing seems to have been done.
What is the MSI Cleanup Utility also found under SptTools?
AFAIK You must run the appropriate SECleanup from the right DVD image.
That means in Your case You have to run th SECleaner.exe from an ST8 image!
Maybe this changes the results
Thanks @hawcad, that's what I did. GTAC lead me through the regedit steps as well with no results and concluded that I need to rebuild the machine to get rid of it. Seems kind of ridiculous but there it is.
sorry to hear that.
I remember similar situations in the past.
And what I did - hope I remember correctly - I walked through the registry and deleted all old SE entries.
Or You do a fast install of ST8
Maybe a repair install can help.
