I am trying to animate an adjustable spring. The assembly I think is correct, as I am able to move the piston of the damper and the spring adjusts accordingly. However this only works with no analysis, once physical motion is selected, it treats the spring as a rigid body and no motion is seen.
Moreover, when I remove the spring, and animate the piston of the damper, it works well.
Therefore, is it possible to produce a compression/extension spring animation on solidedge using the physical motion so that the parts connecting to the spring are animated correctly and pistons are not able to go through walls etc.

what is Your reason for "Physical Motion"?
This increase the calculation load with - at least for this example - no more benefit of the simulation.
If the spring is an adjustable part You can use a variable motor for the piston to simulate and animate the hole assembly.
No need for Physical Motion so far.
