I have a Startup copy of Solid Edge that I qualified for. I am trying to install standard parts from the downloads section (where we can download MPs and such). I see there is the Standard Parts install, but I do not see a Standard Parts Administator available to download. How can I go about getting these standard parts library installed!?
This worked for me on ST9, I assume it is the same for ST10
Your are looking in the right place.
Download the appropriate Solid Edge DVD (eg. Solid_Edge_DVD_ENGLISH_ST9.exe )
Once you have the DVD unpacked you can go to the DVD folder and run autostart.exe (there is no need to burn the DVD it will run from your hard drive).
From there you can run the Standard Parts Administraton
Thank you for that. I did find it and install it but still cannot get it to do right as I cant find the .sac file. I have never in my life sen something so hard to install.....
I can't remember how I installed it, but there should be a pdf with instructions for how to install it. It is in the DVD you downloaded.
eg. Solid_Edge_DVD_ENGLISH_ST9\DVD\Standard Parts Administration\StandardPartsInstallationGuide.pdf
There is also a detailed guide here:
the first You must do is to install the "Standard Parts Administrator" from the Solid Edge base DVD (image) as described before.
Here a good tip will be, to install at least one of those example parts (DIN, ISO, ANSI, doesn't matter which, but at least one of this group).
This is necessary to install a correct SQL Express database on Your computer.
After doing that You should find a Configuration assistent (wizzard) under Your Solid Edge Programs Group.
Start it and - that's my setting - turn of a version number for standard parts - and save this config.
If You here will see and successfully save, then everything is OK.
If not, then there is no reason for continuing the installation.
Check and try as long as this will be successfully done.
Now You can install the machinery library from a different installation image (extra download).
Select those parts which are important to You and install them
And please don't think, that You have done it now.
Now You must open the Standard Parts Administrator and add these new library to the database.
Or - and this is possible from ST9 upwards, You can select to add the library duringthe machinery libraryinstallation too.
This will lead to an database upgrade/update/installation (call it as You like) which will take at lest one hour, maybe longer depending on the disc speed of Your computer and the number of standards You have selected
Most things are described witihn the Standard Parts Installation Guide.
Finally I only can say:
Hope it works!
I am trying to install Standard Parts but cannot find the Administrator EXE within the files from DVD.
I extracted SE Standard Parts.exe.
Can anyone tell me where it is placed?
