Table editing

How can I make the sum of a dimension, bend radius, and sheet metal thickness display within a bend table? This needs to automatically update if anything is changed.

Hi,

Yes, you can do this in draft environment! Smiley Wink

Here is a video about this:

Re: Table editing

Thank you for the video. This gets me much of the way there. The current issues is how to get a different dimension (Variable) linked into each row of a column. The only option for linking a variable is on a per column basis. I need to create links into specific cells with specific variables.

With up to 18 variables to link into a single table, I guess I could create 18 dummy columns and not show them (If I can hide them), but this is the long way around.

Hi,

I don't know way to create link directly to each cell what contain variables... sorry...

Re: Table editing

Hi,

Is Bend table important for you?

If not, then there is an other solution.

Re: Table editing

The bending table is the second most important thing the drawings are for. The most important is cutting the flat patterns right so the bend number work right.

Back gauge and stick out on the bending machine are critical. It's taken many hours to get the CAD system and folding machine so that they are calibrated together. Once that was accomplished I started adding bend tables that include back gage and stick out. This saves many hours of math at the folding machine.

Attached is a typical drawing for me. over half of what we built is coustom. I have created models that are driven by planes. This allows me to resize the box's at will with all the sheet metal rezising as a result of the plane movement. the ONLY thing I have not been able to automate is the bend tables because I cant find a way to link a dimension to a specific bend table cell. Right now I use spreadsheets but I lose the link once I make a copy of the file.

I have to copy and past about 50 dimensions into table every time I make a copy of the assembly and change dimensions. My turn around time for a set of drawings could go from 2 hours to 15 min if I can get this automated.

I am unable to post vidio (can't solve that either) to the finished drawing is the best way to communicate.

Hi,

I understand your problem. I don't know any ways to do what you want. SE doesn't support direct link to cell... soooory. It should be useful. You shuold ask an Enhancement Request for this.

Re: Table editing

I have boiled down the problem to a singel issue. Is there a way to display a dimension in a table?

Re: Table editing

I have to be one step more specific. I have found a way to paste a value into a table, but not a way to paste a variable that updates.
