Textures?

I have been working on modeling expanded metal sheets, with some success. My next idea was to simply add a texture or pattern just for a visual representation of the design pattern. What is the best way to do this?

I have attached a picture of the expanded metal Im wanting to replicate, and a picutre of my model.

So what I did was:

  • Suppresed your cutout for the diamonds.
  • Created a new Face Style called Expanded Steel
  1. Select "Steel" face style
  2. Select New
  3. Go to Texture tab and specify your PNG file for the texture
  4. Set the background color to Transparent
  5. Set the Units to Surface
  6. Set the Scale to 1.0000
  • Use Part Painter to apply the new face style to the body.

Perfect. Is there a way to have the textures appear in a drawing as they are in the model?

Hiya,

Display as shaded should do this automatically. [you may need to update the view, if existing]

I tried that, its just displaying as a dark grey color. And yes I did refresh the views.

Unfortunately, I cannot get it to work as Draft does not appear to be honoring the texture's background color/transparency and is shading the disk solid gray...  I will probably log an IR about this.

Is the view your displaying in one of the "Grayscale" modes? It only works with one of the  "Shaded" modes.

Oh no.....at least Ken is going to log an IR against this issue, seeing as he could reproduce it.
