The word "design" in tree

Why and how does the work design sometimes show up at the top of the modeling tree?

And more importantly, how do I make it go away, as this is a function (I think it's a switch of somekind) I never intended to use.

Are you refering to what happens when creating "Multi-Body" models?  [default nameing..."Design Body_1"]

No, the word right below the name of the part.

Maby it's always there and never noticed because almost all my part are created as assembly driven rather than on there own.

AHA....that happens only after creating the "Flat Pattern"....as in the "Design" state [or the "Flat Pattern" state] for display & creating draft views.

Re: The word "design" in tree

That happens as soon as you create a flat pattern of a sheet metal part to designate the Design model part of Pathfnder as opposed to the Flat Pattern model part of Pathfinder.
