Unexpected SE issue

Hi All,

I faced today an unexpected SE issue. Cannot open the ASY file because of that :

Any suggestions how to get access to the ASY file ?

I have to admit that I am able to open subassemblies with no problem.

Thank you,

Arek

Hi @arekkul

there could be several reason for that message.

  • as mentioned do You have permission to read that file
is the network (suppose the file on a server) available
  • were any problems the last time the file was used?
Was there a network problem when savin it the last time?
  • Has anybody else used that file and - for example -saved it with an academic license?

What You can try is to rename the corresponding .cfg file and try to open it then again

I remember there were situations where the problem was only in the config file rather than in the assembly file itself.

Give it a try!

Hi Wolfgang,

thank you for reply,

I have done your way, but no success. I have deleted the .cfg file as well, no success.

So I started to rebuild my ASY from the beginning.

Do you work from on a network?

Because your file can become corrupt when you save and at same time something happens with your network.

We have had the same problem a couple of times, Siemens can repair it (Not always) but will take around 1-2 weeks.

try to open with another user account.  I had similar issue with .dft file and something has been corrupted at user's profile (registry entries)

Hi Tomas,

Yes, you have right. I tried to open it on 2 different machines,

no results,

depending on the nature of corruption...  and the complexity of the assembly...  it might be worth submitting to GTAC for review and recovery.

but,  depending on the amount of work it would take to rebuild...

Hi @arekkul

there is one another approach You can try.

Open a new assembly and try to put the old one into that.

If this is possible YOu can move the parts up to the new top assembly and save it again.

So You will get a repared ASM with all Your parts in it and with all relations as before

This sometimes works better than open it.
