Using Alternate Assemblies is not friendly to use

I am trying to build a complex machine.

which i use alternative position in the assembly .......

Smiley Mad but i am not able to use mirror part ... its really irritating ...i dont want to start the assembly again ...

why dont solid edge have these options ..Smiley Frustrated

Hello,

 

Try save assemblie witch severals alternate assembliess (AA) and You will see difference to assieblies witchout AA, this is one of most buged tool in SE.

SE ST9 + TC 10.1.7

Yup .. I know that I can do that .... 

but again I get a new assembly name and number .. Smiley Sad

 

 

What I have did is opened a DUMMY assembly  placed the part and made a mirror part in that assembly and saved it ... 

 

and used that Mirror part in my assembly ..

I had to laugh when I saw the title of this post: "Using Alternate Assemblies is not friendly to use..."

Mirroring is not nice is cases where you need different details in the mirror, and altertane assemblies is not slick. Combine the two issues.....ouch.

@bshand You're so right about that!  Maybe we can get @ArtPatrick to fix this stuff.

Yes, you are right. If I remember well, this "new" mirror command was introduced in ST5, but the "old" is in SE yet. This is a little cheat, but a good workaround. You have to customize your UI and place the "old" mirror command.

May I have an idea .... For Solid Edge Devlopers or inovaters ....  If there is an option as SAVE as  to SAVE AS MIRROR  in apart tile or a sheetmetal .....

I think insert part copy along with mirroring in an assembly achieve this, don't they?
