Hi there,

In Windows Explorer, locate an DXF &/or DWG file, right mouse click on it, select Open With, select the Browse button to locate the "EDGE.exe" program executable, found in "Solid Edge > Program" folder, select it, and check the box to the lower left to "Always use the selected program..."

Hi,

If it doesn't work there is an application that force Solid Edge to point to a specific File Format and it works and it's a FREEWARE!

You have to run the application EXTMAN everytime you need to associate a format file to an application.

http://www.extman.com

It's a german application so you have change the language by clicking on the Icon on the top right after starting it.

For whose intending to donate, the expression Donate isn't translated Man Happy

Donate : Spenden -in German-

If you use the right-click -> Open with… solution when opening multiple DXF files from Windows Explorer you will get multiple Solid Edge sessions.

The registry settings documented in this post will configure Windows to always open DXF files with Solid Edge *and* force the DXF files to open into a single session of Solid Edge.

Edited: Attached the required registry file after the fact for your convenience. Simply download the attached file, double-click to install it, and Solid Edge will always open DXF files into a single session of Solid Edge.

Hi Dave,

Don't recall which post it was, but, did you notice the request for the ability to be able to reverse this registry action?

Sean, thanks for the heads up. Been busy of late verifying ST8 PRs and haven't been staying up to date on the forum posts. Anyway, found the post you mentioned and have responded. Cheers!
