Does anyone have supporting information about time and cost savings (comparison) for using the Wire Harness capabilities of Solid Edge vs 2d wire harness work?

Your VAR or Siemens Rep should be able to provide such data.

Matt is correct. But fist things first. Are you using an ECAD system already or are you just looking to run individual tube paths as wires?

Right now, we are using nothing. our skematics and harness diagrams are created in 2d with alot of manual layout out the harnesses on a finished unit.

@ngardner aside from cost... the wireharness does provide functionality and associtivity.... auto BOMS, Connector tables, etc... so, where accuracy and revisons come in,,, time = Money right...
I would ask your VAR for a very specfic demo and a trial liscense and give it a whirl for 30 days

Nathan,
I had a quick look through our published case studies and did not see any specific savings metrics for using the wire harness design capabilities - I think this is mostly because a lot of manufacturers forget to do a before and after performance analysis when they invest in a software solution - even when this would help them a lot the next time they go to the boss to ask for an investment!
You can do a search on the Solid Edge case studies web page for case studies that inlude references to "electrical" or "routing" for example:
- then you can see the type of benfits these users are claiming - but they tend to be statements like "faster" and "we only needed to create one prototype"
Hope this helps...
