Hello all:

We have all been using the Steering Wheel in some way or the other.

It is prominently used for making direct edits in Sync or imported models and to a lesser extent in Generative Design, Simulation and now in Convergent Modeling with mesh data as well.

What unknown or a less known Steering Wheel technique are you aware of ?

Please share your best Steering Wheel tip.

Here are a few that I have shared...

Hi @Tushar

one of the best tipp I can give, is to use the steering wheel in assembly to copy/move parts in an easy and fast way.

When using the right settings all relations are found automatically.

My number one hint for saving time and work.

EDIT: Sorry for those many mistakes and spelling errors, but this autocorrection on tablet sometimes drive me crazy!  Smiley Wink

Maybe not the best tip but don't forget you can use K(MICE) when positioning.

Select the origin of the Steering Wheel and while it is stuck to your mouse pointer press K followed by the type of keypoint you are interested in. Mid Intersect Center End.

Sometimes the wheel finds too many keypoints and this will improve your confidence.

KMICE also overrides the keypoint setting on the Quick Bar.

Pressing KC to have it only find hole centers is wicked helpful.

I put this tip to test by first setting the Keypoints drop-down from the Command bar to None - and whoa! it still worked.

@JasonTitcomb et al, this "k" press before mice applies only to the steering wheel? This is a new one for me.

It should work with any command whenever you are about to select a keypoint in the 3D space.

Ordered or Synchronous. It sometimes will mention it in the prompt but not always.

@Tushar, it seems to be another case of something that's been there all along but never noticed.

Another thing that was there that I hadn't noticed was the ability to orient the steering wheel to a point in 3D space, just discovered it now, great time saver!
