Anyone who has been using Solid Edge for even a few hours can tell you that icon represents, uh, certain, uh, thing that, uh, deals with assemblies.  Duh.

i've tried to dig in and investigate but i dont see anything special.

 

Note this is the Quick Pic dialog not the pathfinder...

 

I'm stumped.   I'll check into the IR Tomorrow... and then follow back up here.

I found mine again today. It was for a sub within another sub-assembly. If I open that sub-assembly, the icon goes away. The icon came back when I closed the sub-assembly, and after repeating the open/close, the icon is now gone.

 

Maybe it has something to do with linking to another assembly? That's the only thing I saw, that "might" update after I closed the sub-assembly.

 

That probably made no sense to anyone other than Matt.............
