Wrong file name displayed

Legend

I have a fairly large assembly that after editing a subassembly or possibly replacing it, the main assembly file name was changed. The change is only displayed at the top center of the screen "Solid edge ST9-assembly-(wrong file name)"  and in the top of the model tree.  The actual file name when I go to open it is the original. Even more weird is the new name changed to another file and thinks it's in sketch mode, as it now says "sketch".  What drives the displayed file name?

I've attached a screenshot showing the actual file name in the tree.  "103-02_TT"    The displayed name being

"[MALE 6-4 asmSmiley FrustratedKETCH]"

I believe that takes it's input from the "Formula" setting in the Helpers section of the Options.  "Filename" is the default.

Being a regular SE option, that would change file names of all components in assembly.

The upper header shows the name and environment of the current active file.

Sounds like you opened or edited-in-place the sketch of a component that is no longer in your assembly.  You found yourself a glitch.

Have you exited SE, restarted, and does the problem still exist or did it fix itself?

Have you opened the assembly in Revision Manager?  Does the ill-fated reference still exist?

Hi Craig,

Try to create a new window by clicking in View...New Window.

Then close the erroneus window and save the new one.

Sometimes we have this kind of problem and most of the time is solved this way.

Hope it helps.

Re: Wrong file name displayed

I'm agreeing with Scott and HEctor.

Have seen this in the past when returning from an IPA...

hopefully a one time glitch or is this persistent for you after closing SE and opeign a fresh session?

Hector, I created a new window and it solved the problem, Thanks!
This is the only time I've encountered this issue, this file has been this way for 2-3 months now, opening & closing multiple times weekly.
I'll admit I've NEVER created a new window for a part, is this basically copying the part/assembly to be saved with a new name?

I don't know very well what is the purpose of creating a new window. I guess it will be to have two different views of the same file.

Hi,

Normally the name of your assembly has to be the following:

MALE 6-4.asm

and not:

MALE 6-4.asm: 1
or
MALE 6-4.asm: Sketch

Just Subassemblies get an Index to their Filename:

MALE 6-4.asm: 1
up to :
MALE 6-4.asm: n

The Sketch Index appears just when creating/editing a Sketch in an Assembly.

If you run into that again I have a macro that SE gave me to correct the name shown at the top middle of the window.   I never figured out the exact steps to reproduce, but have seen it a few times alright.  Let me know if you want it...
