Depends how "permanent" you want this constraint to be. If you just want to
move something in X only at the moment, use the Move command (Second icon
from bottom, looks like four arrowheads). Select your stuff (with fence or
ctrl) and give the "from" point. You will get gray alignment axes to move
just along X or Y when you are lined up with them.
If you want something more permanent, then you would constrain your object
to a line. You probably would need to read about "relationships" in help on
how to do this.
