excel to drive draft.

Hi All.

I am using excel to drive my model which works great until I open the draft for the detailed view.

Is there a way to control the scales and also update the views?

Hi @Dazzie

can You explain this a little more in detail?

What has model driven b excel to do with the draft of it?

What do You want to drive here from excel?

regards
Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang.

Thanks for your quick reply.

As mentioned I drive a model using excel and I want to use it as a template for the same style part but varying sizes.

I also want to use the draft as a template too, that way I don't need to create new detailed drawings everytime.

The problem I am having is the scale on my draft, it can either be too large or too small.

Is there a way of controlling this?

HI @Dazzie

maybe You will think about QuickDraftSheet templates to use but You alos will run into a scaling problem if the size of Your parts is to different.

I thinkt that if YOu enter the view properties of every draft view, there will be an "Scale" property to change via API

But maybe Your qustion will be better positioned inside the ProgrammersForum rather than here in the Global Solid Edge Forum

There are more and better API programmers online to answer Your questions.

Wolfgang

hiii..

yes obviously you can do that...

first of all you have to grasp some knowledge of programming of solid edge.

there are many examples are given in solid edge programming help.

you have to write small micros for your specific requirement.

i will help you to programming the micros for your specific requirement.

i will upload snap shots within 2-3 days for your reference.

Hi.

Thanks for this information.

I have written the macro as you have shown.

I do not have "Tools>References".  Is this only available with the premium license?  I am using classic.

Hi.

Thanks for the info.

My scale doesn't seem to be working.

What am I doing wrong?  Please find image attached of the data I have input.

When I saved the spreadsheet after I input the data in VBA, I had to resave it as a macro-enabled sheet, then I had to re link my cells.
