I am making a frame in assembly mode and i need to extrude a rectangle face. I close the 3d sketch of the rectangle face and I find the extrude button not available. What should I do? It is the big rectangle on the top of the frame.solar car 2018 try 1.jpg

Hi @silenteagle,

did you check all those 3D line connections?

Are you using Frame environment?

Hi @silenteagle

as long as You don't use a Weldment Assembly or besides Frame Components in assembly,
the additive features are not turned on.

So what Yiou are trying to do is to add another part.

Do this and create the extrusions in that part

Wolfgang

Hi @silenteagle

so by definition, there is NO extrude feature in assembly mode!

This only could be done, if You say, this is a weldment assembly and then You can create a weld.

But this is not intended for a normal part body.

You have to create a new part and there You can form those features You need.

Only a structural frame (under tools) can be created in an assembly directly.

Wolfgang

Hi there @silenteagle,

If I understand what you are looking to do...create a model of the Solar Panel...then what you want to do is, use the "Create Part In-Place" command, in order to use the sketch geometry [Skeleton Model] to drive your part model, when linked to exist that way.

You exactly get my idea. So how do I make an extrution in the command you show me? Or I have to make another part and weld it? Thanks a lot. I just start to use Solid Edge so not very good at it.

@silenteagle,

OK.....I think this existing video [there are a heap of them, covering many aspects of the available functionality] should help you with the general idea of how it should flow. I have linked this to start at 0:56 [where the process is used], but you might also benefit from hearing the lead up.

Have a crack at it, and hopefully it works well, and to your needs.....but at least you'll have more specifics of your issues, that this great community is only too happy to help with.
