We are trying to use the selmd.opt file to limit (restrict) the amount of individuals from a certain group to access Solid Edge, but I think we must have something wrong with the syntax because it currently is allowing more than the alloted amount we set.  Can someone that has more experience using this option review what we have and see if they can see an error in our syntax?

The results of running the server status are shown below.  It shows 4 licenses being used by toolroom and 1 being used be cpfrank.  NOTE: cpfrank & toolroom = user logins, toolrm is the new group name.

Here is what we currently have:

NOLOG UNSUPPORTED

GROUPCASEINSENSITIVE ON

GROUP toolrm toolroom cpfrank

RESERVE 3 solidedgeclassic GROUP toolrm

Hi @MikeSaari

according to Your info file, at the moment there are all licenses in use (19 from 19 in use)

Maybe You have to stop all those useres once, reread the license file and then let them start again.

regards
Wolfgang

The option file was created sometime ago and everyone should have been logged off over the weekend so I would think that the file would have been re-read, but it's entirely possible that not everyone had gotten out of Solid Edge.

Did you stop and start the server from lmtools?

Hi @MikeSaari

as long as You haven't reread the licens/options files the FlexLM server will not recognize those changes in Your option file.

As mentioned by @bshand You also can stop and start trhe server again, but this needs all users to be logged of from SE.

ReRead can be done even if users are logged in and use SE.

So theer is not need for stopping SE.

Same is true if You change the license file, since You have got new SE licenses, etc.

Simply reread is all You need, and no stop and start.

You should be able to see the results if You do a status query in lmtools afterwards

regards
Wolfgang

I'm not sure why case sensitive was set to be ON.

I will try to have everyone log off, but it could be awhile.  While we wait for that, let me ask this question.  When using the "reserve" option and I set it to "3".  Does it allow the reserved group to access more than 3 if there are more licenses available?  Would we be better to use the MAX option?

I did perform the Reread.

Hi @MikeSaari

let the tollroom user log out from SE

See how many licenses are issued then and how many are free to use.

And I suppose, that if You reserve 3 lcienses for a user toolroom, and this user is logged into 3 PCs then also 3 licenses will be used.

Again stop all SE useres from using it, reread and se the status in lmtools.

This clearly must show 3 reservatiosn for the group toolrm

And I would suggest to turn of the case sensitive option, You can not really no the exact writing of usernames by the system.

Wolfgang
