st5 license utility wont work


i have downloaded and instaled st5 but the license utility wont work.
any help i have read other forums where win8 is at fualt but i am running win 7 64bit

Hi there,
One "alternative" method to get the license placed correctly, for cases like this, is to rename the (after saving it out to your desktop, or other known locale) license file you were sent, to become only, "SELicense.dat"...then (using Windows Explorer) copy/paste the file (do not edit/tamper with the content of this file) to the installation directory, the default is... C:/Program Files/Solid Edge/Program/...(directory may differ on non Std installs) you should then say YES to overwrite the existing file. Once this is should be able to run Solid Edge as normal.
Note: You may also need to "uncheck" the option to "hide known file extensions" from Tools/ Windows Explorer. (otherwise it will have two file extensions, and will not function correctly)
