whats means in assembly environment, a padlock icon next to a piece inserted?

hi,

 

please, look at the attached image.

I'm using ST6. Why do I see a padlock when I insert a new part in an assembly?

It means the status of the Part is "Available". The Status -> Display Status command on the PathFinder shortcut menu turns on and off the display of symbols adjacent to the document names in PathFinder.
