Cloud-enabled licensing means that your favorite CAD capabilities can follow you wherever you go--a simple login lets you run Solid Edge wherever you are. This makes it easier for you to move from device to device, whether you're in your office or on the road. Accessing Solid Edge from the cloud also means that you can retrieve your personalized CAD environment - including your menu options, colors, units and drawing standards - from anywhere.

By default, your installation of Solid Edge is licensed to the machine on which it is installed. To switch your CAD access to cloud-enabled, do the following:

  1. Install the new version of Solid Edge if you haven't done so (cloud-enablement is available for Solid Edge ST9 and higher). Make sure to exit out of the application if it launches automatically.
  2. With Solid Edge closed, run the License Utility from the operating system’s Start menu→Solid EdgeLicensing group.
  3. In the License Utility, select the option I am Cloud enabled, and then click OK.

Whenever you start Solid Edge, the system will prompt you to log in using your WebKey. To log in, you must be connected to the Internet.

If you purchased multiple seats, you must create a new WebKey account for each seat you want to set up as cloud enabled. Click here to visit the Subscription Manager website and set up your user accounts.

In the Cloud CAD moves easily from device to device

Solid Edge delivers the cloud capabilities you need by providing easy access to professional 3D CAD across different devices, instant configuration of your CAD environment to your personal preferences, and the ability to quickly share your data across your design resources and with suppliers and customers. These cloud-enabled design capabilities reduce the IT support requirement for your CAD environment, freeing this valuable resource to work on productivity enhancing projects instead of daily system maintenance.

In the Cloud CAD works even when you don't have connection

Solid Edge takes full advantage of the processing power of the user’s local device ensuring high reliability and fast response times. Your files are also cached locally, further ensuring reliability and performance. Solid Edge users can continue to work uninterrupted even if they lose their internet connection. This is essential for CAD users when traveling, for those who work on customer sites and anyone who does not have a 100% reliable internet connection.

In the Cloud CAD updates happen seamlessly

Cloud-enabled CAD access also means that instead of searching for, downloading and distributing software updates, users have direct access the latest Solid Edge maintenance packs. Cloud-enabled CAD users can install maintenance packs whenever they choose, reducing your administrative time.
