Greg,

The system memory [RAM] must be being consumed, by the assembly being displayed, plus any other applications running in the background, this includes Windows itself.

What does the assembly look like?....it may just be too detailed, with small faces...so if the graphics adaptor RAM is overwhelmed, it will draw from the system RAM....this case is even worse if it's a shared RAM [non-dedicated] type setup.

ALSO....the current build of Solid Edge Student Edition is ONLY in 32bit code, so is limited to [allocated] the amount of memory it can access [address].

What are your system specs? [CPU speed, RAM amount, Graphics adaptor type & RAM, HDD type & size]

Further to this.....I believe ST7 [when it becomes available] is ONLY available in 64bit architecture. I can only summise that Student Edition will also follow this move.

A better question is how much RAM do you have and what OS are you using?
