Solid Edge ST7 can be installed only on 64bit system.

As SvenBom said, starting with ST7, Solid Edge is only available as a 64 bit application so you need to be running a 64 bit version of Windows 7 or 8 to install it.  Prior to ST7, the student version was 32 bit and the commercial version was available in both 32 and 64 bit.

Hi Grundey.

I get it.

Today I have Windows 7 professional 32-bit.

So I'm going to download the ST6 version, if I find it.

I hope the license key received recently will go well for the ST6 version.

A question.

When my current ST6 version expires (5/11/2014), I have to download a

new ST6 or can I open or reinstall  my current ST6 and use the license key

received to extend the life?

Thank you for the reply.

Hi there,

It is only the license code that requireds updating in your case, for ST6.

I'm reading reports from other users doing this, that the emailed code [for new sign-up's] is for ST7, and will not work for ST6. Check some of the other threads on this topic.

Further....if you are stuck with a 32bit Windows PC for a while, then absolutely recommend making backup copy of the ST6 ".EXE" file and the license code. [same with ST7 already downloaded, you never know , a 64bit PC may appear....will save another big download]

Hi, Sean.

When I was informed that my license code was about to expire, and I was advised

to extende il for a year, I checked the link enclosed and received a new license key.

I did not understand the e-mail so well and I downloaded  the ST7, which

later I left due to incompatibility with windows 7-32 bit..

On 05/11/2014 I will open my old ST6, at the demand for a code, I will provvide

the code I received and I hope it is ok. I will know it only then.

Then I will tell you if I have solved my problem or not.

For now, thank you very much.

Hi, Sean

My problem has been solved.

When my license expired, I asked and get a new licence

to extend the use of my existing version, ST6 32-bit.

Therefore I chose the  start button->all prg-> ST6-> license -> utility license->

The 'Solid Edge License Utility' dialog  appeared.

I select "I have an Academic Code"; a 'License Key' field appeared.

I entered my  Academic Code and then I clicked  OK to complete the license step

Now my old ST6 runs without problems.

Thank you very much, for your help.
