Unable to change dimensions on sketches

N/A
Hello,

We are having an issue with dimensioning in Solid Edge. When we sketch out a circle or rectangle in Solid Edge and then apply a smart dimension, we are unable to modify the dimension. Any changes we make to the value result in the new value being displayed with a line under it but the size does not change. We also see that Solid Works reports that the sketch is not to scale.

As best as we can tell, the dimension isn't locked.

We had this problem originally with an ST5 installation about a month ago. We uninstalled ST5 and installed version ST6. ST6 has been working well for the past three weeks and now this problem has started to reoccur. We have uninstalled and reinstalled version ST6 and the problem persists.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Working with sketches is not the same as working with solids in Synch. To be able to change the geometry of a sketch using the dimension, the dimension must be locked.

I think you misunderstand the lock/unlock symbol, Michael. This does not lock or unlock the dimension from changing per se, but changes the PMI dimension between Driving and Driven. When a dimension unlocked, or Driven, and a number is entered, it will not change the size of the feature it is attached to, and will instead show a line underneath the measurement to notify you that you forced it to display a number other than what the feature actually measured.

Thank you both very much. I have much to learn.
