Attachment ItemID via Excel Integration

Pioneer

Hello Everyone,

Description of the problem:

I get a list with e.g. 100 items and then
need to create each one classically in TC: File -->New-->Item.
It takes too much time and it does not make sense.

Questions:
1. is it possible how to simplify it with excel integration
and get all 100 items (without datasets) in TC ?
2. Whether there is any other possibilty to do this?

Regards

I like using ps_upload to quickly create Items (or custom Item types) using all level 0 (unless they have structure) in the input file. It's fast. After Item creation, if you need to populate property values, then I use Live Excel but you have to configure a template to get at the properties (on Item and Item Revision). There are other posts here that describe this process in more detail.

Hi @Locash

I did that with tcexcel_import

Hi TomK76,

can you show me, how did you do that?

A normal TC user can also use this tcexcel_import or only infodba user?

Does a normal user have the capability to launch tc_menu? I would never give a normal user access to run tc utilities (not intentionally).

Hi @Locash

The excel file has to be in a certain format, see attachement.

I also had to try a bit to get that work.

I did that as infodba, "normal" users are not allowed to do that.

If you like I can provide you this excel template and you change it to your needs.

Unfortunately the TC help is not very helpful with that utility. I also had ask GTAC and other people.

ps_upload as Randy mentioned would be also a way, but I have never used that one.
