Can we use Teamcenter licenses on floating basis?

[ Edited ]

Hello Team,

1. I am having 100 Author Licenses, can it be possible to create 200 users and license should get utilised only when users get logged in TC?

or I will be able to create only 100 users as each user is consuming a license.

2. what will be the impact if two users are sharing the same credentials for Teamcenter?

Teamcenter is using named user licensing exclusively, so each active user needs its own license.

There is no way to make it use concurrent licensing.

Just to add to the conversation. You can deactivate a user to create a new user. However, you have to deactivate the user then wait until the beginning of the next month before the license is freed and you can create the new user. For this reason, schedule deactivation(s) until the end of the month then you only have to wait a day to create the new user. Deactivating at the beginning of the month you have to wait the entire month before the license is free.

Oh, to answer the rest of your question: the impact of sharing credentials. That violates your license agreement with Siemens and your company can be sued while also loosing support. When you signed the license agreement with Siemens you stated that you would comply with named user.

yes, number of active users must be equal number of licenses.

named licensing politic - buy more licenses, pay more money.

Business, nothing personal(c)

it's  a some madness.. since TC10 users become slaves of license tracking

Re: Can we use Teamcenter licenses on floating basis?

Hello All,

1. This is really something very much new to me, Can't we use
active/inactive status of the user without even bothering about the start
of the month as Randy mentioned in his comment?

2. I understand I can keep only 100 active users if I have 100 licenses.

3. Can I have 200 users for 100 license which will have 100 inactive and
100 active user status at a time?

4. can i write a script which will switch the status from active to
inactive and vice versa?

5. It will be beneficial for the employees working in shifts even those are
using same systems for work.

Re: Can we use Teamcenter licenses on floating basis?

For the workspace where multiple users work in a shift system, a workspace user is used.

For example the machine operators of one machine share the machine account created in Teamcenter, since they work in a shift and there is always only one user out of the three using the license.

Instead of having users MachineOperator1, MachineOperator2 and MachineOperator3, you have user Machine4715, for example.

This is still not violating the license agreement and you keep yourself from creating hundreds of users.
