Default Item Type for SEEC

Pioneer
Pioneer

Hi all,

When creating a new Solid Edge file and saving in SEEC, the default item type is set to Item. Users can select between several types from a drop down list, one of whic is a custom subtype of Item that we are using in our data model.

Is there a preference to set our custom type as the default? There is concern about users forgetting to manually set item type when first saving a file.

Thanks,

Aaron

Yes, you can set it in a preference to only list what you want in the order you want it displayed. Remove the value ALL and add your item types you want to use. The first one in your list is your default.

Here are the list of preferences that control the Item Type list:

SEEC_ItemTypeList_SE Part
SEEC_ItemTypeList_SE Assembly
SEEC_ItemTypeList_SE Draft
SEEC_ItemTypeList_SE SheetMetal
SEEC_ItemTypeList_SE Weldment
SEEC_ItemTypeList_SE Component
SEEC_ItemTypeList_SE Connection
SEEC_ItemTypeList_DirectModel
SEEC_ItemTypeList_Image
SEEC_ItemTypeList_MSExcel
SEEC_ItemTypeList_MSExcelX
SEEC_ItemTypeList_MSWord
SEEC_ItemTypeList_MSWordX
SEEC_ItemTypeList_PDF
SEEC_ItemTypeList_StructureEditor
SEEC_ItemTypeList_UGMASTER

Thanks Jamie,

For the benefit of any noobs like me who find this solution in a search, I discovered that the type must be entered with it's true name, not the displayed type name (ie A2[Item type name]). Otherwise the below error shows:

The preference SEEC_Default_Item_Type has invalid value for the type SE Part.

Ah, yes. I guess I have been using real names for so long that I forget to mention it. I'm glad you figured it out.
