Export from TC Classification

Hi!

I try to write an application for comfortable export, import, updating and deleting in TC Classification. So, what better way: sml utilities, icsxml utilities or plmxml utilities?

My boss recommends me to use sml text file format, because it is easy and compact. I think  icsxml is better because it is easy to parse and transform. Both we don't know why plmxml is better. The comparison of theese three ways is my first question.

While I am dealing with icsxml, I have the second question: which command can export one group with all classes in it, all their brother and child classes, all ICOs and all attributes ?

Thank you, I use Teamcenter 8.0/8.3, so I havn't looked in the coming help. I hope legacy XML (icsxml) -- the second way -- is not deprecated in 10.*.

Hi All,

Is it better to create the classification Reuse structure in Teamcenter manually or using smlutility?

The managed Reuse Library leverages classification so I would use the smlutility. The native Reuse Library is manual and you have to make changes to the ReuseLibraryConfiguration.krx file. I think there is some things in Customer Defaults that need to be addressed also. Teamcenter Integration, check "Display Reuse Library" and set "Libraries Organized by Teamcenter Folder" using format:
CAM Library|infodba:CAM Library

Where, name CAM Library is in infodba's Home and in a folder called "CAM Library".

Thank you Randy for the response.

My requirement is to setup classification library from the scratch in Teamcenter development environment (will be moved to QA and PROD eventually).

I am thinking to create the Groups, Abstract Classes and Storage Classes directly from Classification Admin UI in Teamcenter client, is it a good approach?

or Should I create .sml file manually which is huge?
