How setup two databases (Prod/Test) as 4-tier in one site

Hello,

Do you have any experience with setup two databases (Production/Test) with 4-tier in one site?

a) Solution for JBOSS middle server?

b) Solution fo IIS middle server?

In this time, our customers use 4-tier for Prod and 2-tier for Test. It's complicated for administrating.

Thanks in advance.

This is done on the client side. If using TEM, you just add the other Site similar to when you added the first Site. If using OTW, you need to configure the OTW distribution instance with both Sites.

Hi Larry,

thank you, but isn't this case. Customer has just one server (site) and all-in-one

- two DB's (SQL)

- two configurations (Test, Production)

-- Test is on the 2-tier

-- Production is on the 4-tier

Question: It's possible have both (Test and Prod) on the 4-tier in one site? I don't know, how setup IIS for two configurations OR how setup JBOSS for two configuration.

For information, it's Teamcetner 10.1

Thanks Ladislav

I see. You mean one "Server"; not "Site". Of course it's possible although I don't
recommend it for performance reasons. It's a matter of changing port numbers for everything with a port number (DB, FMS, web tier, Ent tier, etc), database & middle tier instance names (e.g. 'tcprod' vs 'tctest'), and all related Tc preferences for ports and instance names.

Thank you,

Hi Larry,

Thank you for the answer.

The Performance is good, hardware is ready for it - i will hope.

In case two 4-tier installations, do you have any manual step-by-step for two installations on the IIS or JBOSS? SIEMENS documentation is very general, and this is a very typical issue.

Thank you.
