How to prevent users to login via thin client in browser?

Valued Contributor

Is there a way we can prevent users from logging to thin client from browser? We have custom code on the client side where we have put in some checks while workflow release We are seeing some users login via thin client and bypass it since these checks have not been customised for thin client.

Any pointers or suggestions?

I havent tried this, but I found this preference:
WEB_menu_entry_suppressions

You could suppress 'new workflow process'.

J2EE or .NET?

In J2EE, you can modify the web.xml and comment out the "webclient" before building tc.war (INSWEB).

In .NET, modify TC_ROOT\net_webtier_<yours>\tc\Web.Config and comment out "webclient" location. Or modify TC_ROOT\net_webtier_<yours>\tc\webclient\WebclientLogin.aspx to remove name and password fields or disable the login button (prevent login).

Randy,

Can you please put a snapshot of the web.xml which i need to comment out. I went through the file, but not clear which section to comment out.

Thanks,
Rajesh

Richard,

This is good, but then we need to add an entry for all possible ways the users will bypass the system. Randy's solution will be helpful if I figure the section to comment.

But this was useful for sure. Thanks for sharing.

Hi,

I think, it was this part of web.xml to disable the webclient

<!-- entry for DHTML webclient -->
<!--<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>controller</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/webclient/*</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>-->

This works. But i see that i am unable to access http://hostnameSmiley Tongueort/tc/services after that.

Does this just prevent the web login or does it also prevent some backend access as well.

As far as I know, it prevents only the webclient

what are you trying to call at http://hostname: port/tc/service ?
